Crown of Slaves
David Weber & Eric Flint
(Reviewer - D. H. BROWN)

2003 Baen
ISBN: 0743471482

In the Honor Harrington universe, the Star Kingdom's ally Erewhon is growing restive.

Added to the longstanding problem of a slave labor planet controlled by hostile Mesans in Erewhon's stellar backyard, the recent assassination of the Solarian League's most prominent voice of public conscience indicates the growing danger of political instability in the Solarian League, which is also close to Erewhon.

In desperation, Queen Elizabeth sends a private mission to Erewhone, led by Captain Wilwicki, accompanied by one of her nieces. When they arrive on Erewhon, Manticore's envoys find themselves in a mess. Not only do they encounter one of the Republic of Haven's most capable agents, Victor Cachat, they also discover that the Solarian League's military delegation seems up to is neck in skullduggery.

Reviewer - D. H. BROWN writes:

David Weber along with his part-time partner Eric Flint are not literary geniuses. What they are are storytellers who are unequaled in the genre. Anyone who has read my reviews of the Honor Harrington Universe or the 1632/1633 know that I am a sucker for good space opera.

& with the advent of Crown of Slaves, set as a new series in the Honorverse of Honor Harrington, a thrilling new space opera has been born.

Characters with dignity & no honor, with honor & no dignity; some with both & some with neither, Crown Of Slaves sweeps you away to a whole new time & place. The sequencing of combat, the technical military writing, human drama, & fantastic character painting makes for a gripping & totally undeniable good read.

Crown Of Slaves marked another all-nighter for me & left me muttering at 5 a.m. “More! More! More!”

Disappointment is not an option when reading David Weber & Eric Flint! They deliver only the best. Get it, read it & do as I have, place it on your shelf as a permanent edition.
