ISBN: 0399151869
A microbial apocalypse called Black Ep has wiped all but six humans from the globe.
In this sequel to Idlewild, this story begins in a stark landscape 37 years after the catastrophe in which only six genetically engineered “posthumans”, reared in an Immersive Virtual Reality with computer programs seeing to their every need, have survived. Now they are now committed to the task of rebuilding a peaceful civilization. But not everyone shares the same vision, & soon two very different societies begin to form.
As we follow a child from each “family”, someone or something begins to threaten their innocence. & as the mystery mounts, a mutated strain of Black Ep makes a deadly return. Now the architects who gave breath to this new world must scramble to protect their children from a two-front assault.
& the race against extinction begins.

I just finished Edenborn and it's great! What I love most about it is that the author really knows how to pull you into the world & the characters are so real -- I feel like I could go hang out with them. It's such a heartbreaking & thrilling human story!
I almost didn't pick it up because the cover was so ‘bio’ & ‘sci-fi’ but I thought, hey, I'm a fan of his dad (Carl Sagan) so why not give his kid a shot? I'm not disappointed.
I can't say enough about this book. It's so soulful & there's a murder mystery in it. I know it sounds like a lot of different directions at once but it's so not -- it's such a fast GREAT read. Once you start you won't wanna stop.
I can't wait for the next one!
