Eve
Aurelio O'Brien
(Reviewer - Rebecca Brown)

ISBN: 1418421596

In a 31st Century utopia everyone is happy except a man & his robot who decide to create the unthinkable.

Govil is a 19th Century Romantic ill-at-ease in the Garden of Eden manufactured by GenieCorp™ whose sole (& soul) purpose is meeting Mankind's every need, whim & fancy with biological Creature Comforts™.

Illness, war, poverty, famine & death have been eradicated, along with love, parenthood, children... & families, thus leaving Govil yearning for what he can't have or find: a great love, a great cause.

Govil is an oddball with a collection of antiques, one of which is the robot Pentser, the last of his kind because his technology has long been obsolete.

Together Govil & Pentser set out to make the unimaginable -- a real live, ordinary woman.

Eve is a funny, well-written satirical tale of yearning, conflict, tampering with things to make a more perfect world, intrigue & getting what you ask for! It has surprises on every page as the cover images of the bizarrely logical Creature Comforts™ portend.

Told from Pentser's omnipotent & omnipresent point of view we watch as his “master” makes the “organic woman” -- EVE -- in a perfect brand-name world. It has plenty of “through the looking-glass” winces & chuckles, & is thought-provoking too! Which, of course, she always has been.
