The Saga of Seven Suns: the titanic war between the hydrogues & faeros sweeps across the Spiral Arm, extinguishing suns & destroying planets.
Chairman Wenceslas & King Peter must now unify the human race with ironfisted policies to stand together. However, disparate civilizations are forging new alliances threaten the old order. The Roamer clans & Theroc will not yield their independence, & the alien leader Jora'h faces a civil war that may break apart the entire Empire.
Sr. Staff Reviewer D. H. BROWN writes:
The Saga of Seven Suns is aptly named for it is truly a saga that now after Book 3, one begins to wonder when it will ever end.
A space opera written from a grand vantage point that though you look for a completion, you're dragged only mildly complaining, through its future.
This is not a saga that I believe will rival Foundation or Second Foundation, but rather a really big story that has everything a sci-fi fan could ask for, with humans at their best & worst & stupidest, & aliens all falling within the same categories, with grandly hidden twists & turns of a thriller that jerks your chain with the start of each new chapter, leading you inexorably to the next surprise & tidbit that makes up what can only be described as a visionary's imagination with both dreams & nightmares galore.
I like it! I like the span, the space & the thinking BIG that Kevin J. Anderson has so ably penned & brings to this whole body of The Saga of Seven Suns.
I will have to admit to having a personal foible & that being I seldom read series until I know the writer has writ himself out, with any given series. However, a smart editor at Aspect Warner not only sent me the ARC for review, but tucked into the package was Books 1 & 2 making it absolutely, tantalizingly impossible to ignore.
So sitting down with Book 1, having passed it over 4-5 years ago, I began to read. There is nothing quite like having to read three books to review one, to make one appreciate the depth of the author's vision! I quickly found myself deeply biased with the Roamers & all my prejudices coming to the fore against the Terran Hansa.
My advice is to go out to Amazon without delay, pick up Books 1 & 2 & order Book 3 & sit down for a virtual feast of reading. Any hard science fiction fan will not be disappointed.
