 Riding The Dragon
 Robert J. Wicks
(Reviewer - Rev. Marie D. Jones)

 2003 Sorin Books
 ISBN: 1893732657

10 Lessons for Inner Strength in Challenging Times. Combining Eastern & Western wisdom to guide us to spiritual empowerment.

Associate Reviewer Rev. Marie D. Jones writes:

Sometimes small books can pack big punch, & Riding the Dragon by Robert J. Wicks is such a book. This little 5x7 hardcover book teaches us ten powerful, yet simple lessons for finding courage & inner fortitude in times of confusion, fear & uncertainty.

Written is a warm, personal and simple style this psychologist presents us with tools for transformation that empower us to face our dragons & ride them, rather than run from them in terror or avoidance.

The chapters include:
Prune Carefully and Often
Engage the Darkness
Find Love In Small Deeds.

Each of us can use to become a spiritual master of our own destiny, as we learn to seek hidden possibilities in life's challenges & events, live more simply & true to our own inner needs, & seek daily perspective, especially when feeling overwhelmed.

Riding the Dragon draws upon many spiritual paths, including Zen, Christianity & even Catholicism & the lessons integrate psychology & spirituality to make the quest for inner understanding not only achievable, but thrilling as well. Wicks draws upon the wisdom of such great & noble minds as Henri Nouwen, Thomas Merton, Jack Kornfield & Sogyal Rinpoche.

Although I found the $15.95 price tag a little high, this book does provide priceless lessons in healing & spiritual enlightenment, & would make a great addition to the library of any seeker of wisdom. It is surprising how much profound information you will find between the covers, so I highly recommend Riding the Dragon.
