A spiritual quest that leads to a startling revelation, & talking animals, rocks & trees.
The book that's sending shockwaves through the metaphysical community. Written for Lightworkers, Wanderers & planetary servers to reconnect forgotten memories. Explores who you are, why you're here & what needs to be done to accomplish your mission. If you've ever felt Earth was not your real home ... alienated from friends & family ... that you've come here to do something important ... this one's for you.
Associate Reviewer Rev. Marie D. Jones writes:
Jean-Claude Koven tells quite a fantastical story in his novel Going Deeper, which documents the spiritual quest of a simple guy named Larry who has just found out, via his talking dog, that he is one of the special people on earth called “Wanderers”, & that his destiny involves waking up others from the deep sleep of the ego.
Larry is a young L.A. lawyer who begins to question everything about his life after the events of 9/11. When he adopts a puppy under serendipitous circumstances, strange things begin to happen, most notably on a trip to Joshua Tree National Park. That's where Larry's dog, Zeus, begins talking to him about this mysterious destiny unfolding for him & others like him, “Wanderers” who feel that they have something important to do, but don't quite know what or how.
Not only does Zeus talk to Larry. So, too, do a tree, a pair of boulders, & a rapping raccoon that imparts amazing wisdom. All of these unusual characters assist Larry in his unfolding as a teacher among humans, & help him understand, via long & sometimes tedious descriptions, what the heck is going on in the world & how he can help to heal the wounds of despair.
The result is a changed man, through & through, & a whole lot of spiritual truth packed into a novel form. The story is enjoyable, as is the information being imparted & the quirky characters the author has chosen to use as purveyors of truth. The problem with Going Deeper is the length, which easily could have been cut by at least fifty pages, & the constant hammering of the same information over & over. Understandably, the author wants to make his points, get his truths across, & teach the lessons that the story is meant to teach, but after about page 300, I began to get anxiously tired & wanted it to end. Not because it wasn't good writing, or important material, but because I had already “gotten it” long ago.
Still, Going Deeper has a lot to say about the world we live in, & our place in it, caught between the heart & the ego, & our inner longing to find our destiny. Many who read this book will recognize themselves as “Wanderers”, & they will “get it.” Others will just find it a fun novel about the spiritual odyssey of a guy named Larry & his talking dog, & take it at its cover value. For those who feel the call of the spirit this book will speak louder, & on that level, even long before the story ends, it succeeds.
