In this long-awaited sequel to The Bible Code, we are warned that we are now in “the end of days,” that we may face World War III, that the world is in danger of being engulfed in “an atomic holocaust.”

When The Bible Code was first published in 1997, it was surrounded by much controversy. There were those who were for or against it, those who supported it & those who took great pains to debunk it.

If you have not read The Bible Code here is a brief explanation: There are codes in the Bible that predict our future. The spaces between the Hebrew letters in the original text have been removed & within this run-on text lie certain messages. This system, utilizing computor technology, group theory & the field of math that underlies quantum physics was developed by Dr. Eliyahu Rips & his colleague Dr. Alexander Rotenburg. Author Michael Drosnin expounds on their discoveries & uncovers codes of his own that are pertinent to the 21st century.

To quote from The Bible Code Code II, here is an example in English of how such a system works:

“Rips explained that each code is a case of adding every fifth or tenth or fiftieth letter to form a word.
Now read that same sentence as a four-letter skip code:
Rips ExplAineD thaT eacH codE is a Case Of adDing Every fifth or tenth or fiftieth letter to form a word.”

Such codes are used by secret services throughout the world. But the question is, does such a code really exist in The Bible, as Michael Drosnin suggests?

I am not a mathematician, nor do I understand Hebrew. Those with a knowledge of the Hebrew letters of the alphabet, will have an easier time reading Drosnin's examples. However, I am willing to at least consider many of Drosnin's discoveries with an open mind due to the fact that over the last couple of years he has persistently & vigorously presented his findings to world leaders in order to warn them about the many dangers that lie ahead for the world at large.

Drosnin has personally approached such leaders as Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Yasir Arafat, Omni Sharon, the son of Arial Sharon, amongst others. Through The Bible Code he warned Yitzhak Rabin of an assassination attempt a year before it happened. He has also put forward the belief that our choice in the next four years is not “peace or war,” but “peace or annihilation,” & the center stage will be the Middle East. This is very sobering stuff!

As I write this review today America is gearing up for war against Saddam Hussein. Palestinians are yet again burying their dead even as two of their suicide bombers have struck again,killing & wounding Israelis. North Korea is developing nuclear warheads. Pakistan has nuclear weapons of it's own with which it threatened India. & the threat of biological & nuclear destruction by terrorists is an ever-present reality. Such factors either give Drosnin credence or as others see it, he is stating the obvious. World War III is a very strong possibility in which many will die, suffer untold hardships & quite possibly, the human race will face annihilation.

So where to from here? To quote Drosnin in The Bible Codes II, peace is our only solution as annihilation, not war is the alternative. He goes on to say:

“The peace has to be strong enough to survive the next suicide bombing, the next shooting at a mosque or a synagogue, the next act of terror...The peace has to be strong enough to survive even the next assassination of an Israeli minister, or a Palestinian leader.” I would like to add “...any world leader.”

Whether you accept The Bible Code & its sequel The Bible Code II, or not, Michael Drosnin's warnings are very real & need to be taken seriously.

His message of hope is that within the Codes, we are given choices & it is up to us right now to make the right choices, for ourselves & for our planet. Drosnin believes that we can change our future. That the Bible code was designed to to be unlocked by computer now, at this one moment in human history, so that we will have the information we need, just in time to survive.
