Sacred Places North America
Brad Olsen
(Reviewer - Rebecca Brown)
2003 Consortium of Collective Consciousness
ISBN: 1888729090
A guide to 108 destinations that shaped the spiritual foundation of the continent.
Brad Olsen sets out to discover:
• who were the first Europeans to arrive in North America
• why Native Americans revere certain mountains
• where are the most frequent sightings of Bigfoot & UFOs
• why Graceland has become a most visited shrine • which off-beat Christian sites attract thousands of visitors
• where New Age adherents convene to experience Earth energy
• how our ancestors marked each seasonal change.
Just a handful of the 108 fascinating adventures to be found in our own back yard & neck of the woods.
Sacred Places in North America must have taken years to compile, there are photos of the author as a teenager visiting some sites, & with the help of maps we gallop the length & breadth of this continent as well as out into the vastness of the Pacific Ocean to the Hawaiian Islands.
We start out in The Southwest & follow the West Coast States north to Alaska & Hawaii. Then we hang a right into Western Canada, over the Rocky Mountains to the Central Plains. Then we explore the Great Lakes Region, & head up into Eastern Canada before migrating down to New England & The South. In his Acknowledgements the author lists a veritable herd of helpers.
In the beginning we are offered the Author's Karma Statement which will set your mind at rest as to Brad Olsen's manifesto, intentions & his affinity with numbers. He is an earnest young fellow pulsing with so much energy & enthusiasm, it is infectious. He has, he admits, only begun to scratch the surface of the inherent power of the Earth.
The reason for only 2 Teapots? Sacred Places North America is a bit rough hewn -- the print technology leaves much to be desired, & the black & white photos deserve a full color format, or at least sharper, clearer definition. Brad Olsen's energetic & unceremonious tour guide of legendary places people down the ages have flocked to in part because of the extra-ordinary energy found there, is utilitarian, packed with public domain images & information.
So on your next vacation, instead of just blandly heading off into picture postcard America, consider traveling with a purpose -- to experience the intense energy boosts of sacred sites, modern & ancient. Brad Olsen's Sacred Places North America will certainly give you more bang out of your tourist buck.
