Maren returns to Grenada Inn to care for her aunt & finds smugglers, an ancient ghost, & murder.
Maren O'Connor left her family home, The Granada Inn, in Southern California, a year after her family was murdered. She felt like a suspect. Now her aunt, who runs the hotel, has been poisoned & she must go back to care for her.
The Inn is nothing like she left it. Guests are few, employees have hidden agendas, the cellars are full of smuggled goods, & an ancient ghost has begun to wander again. In addition, there's another murder. & now Maren herself is threatened. Fighting her instincts to leave, she continues to care for her aunt, & find out what's going on.
Cobwebs and Contraband has a finely twisted plot, with people from Maren's past coming back in the flesh as well as those from the Inn's past coming back in spirit, sort of, & they're all mixed up in a nasty business that tries hard to break Maren's courage & heart. Except our heroine has a spine, & is made of sterner stuff.
In finding her heroine's voice Lana Waite has made herself a niche in the ‘old-fashioned’ Nancy Drew type mystery with her stand alone Buried in Burrywood, & then the two Maren O'Connor adventures The Madd Mountain Murders & Cobwebs and Contraband.
