The Confession
Sheldon Siegel
(Reviewer - Narayan Radhakrishnan)

2004 Penguin Putnam
ISBN: 0399152121

Priest turned lawyer Mike Daley is back & is as strong as ever.

Sr. Reviewer Narayan Radhakrishnan writes:

Following the success of Final Verdict & Criminal Intent, lawyer/author Sheldon Siegel packs a punch with his new novel The Confession.

Former priest & ace-lawyer Mike Daley is taking life easy. Twenty years ago when he finally renounced priesthood -- Daley had once & for all taken a decision not to be heavily involved with the Church -- he was no atheist, but the spiritual life was too much for him. His ex-wife & partner Rosie who was suffering from cancer has recovered & their 11 month old baby is the prime concern of Mike's life.

But his old friend & fellow priest Ramon Aguirre used to pester him to go to church once in a while -- we lawyers do have to go to church for the sins we commit -- if not regularly! Daley did not care for his friend's nagging, however, all changes when Aguirre's charged with the murder of the lawyer, Maria Concepcion, who was representing a complainant accusing the Archdiocese & its priests of sexual harassment.

Things take a turn for the worse when some skeletons are found in Fr. Ramon Aguirre's own closet. Apparently he was planning on keeping them in the dark. & to add mystery to the misery, Fr. Aguirre's fingerprints are on the murder weapon, as well as discovered in Concepcion's apartment.

Now it's up to Daley & Rosie to rescue the Aguirre -- which will take all their wits & ingenuity. In regular sedate Siegel action this timely suspense thriller not only culminates in an exciting finish -- it also takes the series forward.

Enjoyed The Confession -- & eagerly look forward to the next Siegel/Mike Daley thriller.

Highly recommended.
