During the trial of a Mafia Don, the jury's bus is bombed.
Sr. Associate Reviewer Narayan Radhakrishnan writes:
You just can't beat James Patterson when it comes to suspense. He's the king... make that... the emperor of contemporary suspense fiction.
I just recommended The Beach Road -- a first class legal thriller which blew my mind, & with Judge & Jury, he's delivered again... & I can only describe it as adipoli (Malayalam roughly translated as something beyond wonderful, fascinating & fabulous).
Though the title intimates a legal thriller -- true there are some lawyers & some courtroom action -- it's not along the lines of a John Grisham or Richard North Patterson.
Andie DeGrasse is called for jury duty in the trial of the Mafia kingpin Dominic “The Electrician” Cavello who is not only an enigma, he's ruthless, dangerous & cruel to the core. Nick “Smiles” Pellisante's testimony -- he's the FBI Agent who brought “The Electrician” to book -- will just about seal the Don's fate.
Whatever excuse Andie comes up with to get out of jury duty falls on deaf ears, & soon she's juror No. 11 in this landmark trial. When the bus carrying the sequestered jury is bombed killing all but Andie (& her 10 year old son is also a victim) -- vengeance becomes personal.
Together with Nick Pellisante, Andie embarks on a mission -- to see justice done -- & what follows is Patterson at his suspenseful best, culminating in a finish -- & I'm NOT going to be a spoilsport -- except to say: revenge can be so sweet.
Judge & Jury as James Patterson's fourth No. 1 bestseller this year & with the 12th Alex Cross psychological mystery coming in the autumn -- it's a grand time for this author & his readers -- us!

I am a 26 years old lawyer practicing in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Along with my legal practice, I have finished post-graduate studies for both Business Law & Human Rights. I am a self proclaimed numero-uno legal thriller lover & am the proud owner of all of Grisham's & Turow's novels. I enjoy John Mortimer's Rumpole & relish an occasional Martini & a rare Scot(ch)t-oline with a Patterson on the side.
My work A FICTION OF LAW is now about 500 pages in length & features 500 lawyer authors & 2000 legal thrillers covering a 300 year period - inclusive of entries from the USA, UK, Asia, Europe, China, Middle East etc. Still in search of a publisher.
