An American worker is sent to Africa, to find out the truth of mismanaged funding for projects in developing countries.
Mali Kuli is a Forest Reserve in Rumura, a country in central Africa which is home to an ancient volcano & rare tribe of Pygmy Chimpanzees.
When Margaret Waiyala, President of Mwatumi Greenwoods Women's Cooperative, is falsely accused of mismanaging funds donated by the Schooley Foundation that supports projects in developing countries, Carol Simmons, an American working for the Woman's Coalition for Action, is sent to Mwatumi to find out the truth.
Enter Mrs. Simon, an elusive character for whom Carol Simmons is mistaken. She trails Carol's every step along her investigation.
Associate Reviewer Gail Evans writes:
I found A Road Through Mali Kuli a fast-paced, entertaining read full of intrigue, deception, poachers, corrupt politicians, romance & a host of diverse characters. The plot's twists & turns are unpredictable in this jigsaw puzzle, action-packed first novel by Agi Kiss.
There is never a boring moment, & just when you think that you have it all figured out, the author takes you down yet another unexpected path, wetting your appetite for more!
A Road Through Mali Kuli is, however, much more than an entertaining read. It is endorsed by Dr. Richard Leakey, the world renown Kenyan Anthropologist as capturing “...an Africa in which intrigue is so much part of life.” Agi Kiss has a deep & comprehensive understanding of the continent & the problems that beset it, which is clearly evident in her writing. The author knows from whence she speaks -- an Ecologist at the World Bank in Washington D.C., Agi Kiss is involved in projects to protect & preserve the wildlife of Africa.
A Road Through Mali Kuli is not only a gripping read with suspense & mysterious plots, it is also very informative, highlighting the many challenges that African countries face. The author exposes the rape by both foreigners & locals of the ever-diminishing ecological natural resources, & the natural rain forests that sustain the earth. This might be fiction, but throughout runs a clear thread truth.
I highly recommend A Road Through Mali Kuli & give it four tea pots brimming over! It is a winner, with all the ingredients of a bestseller. Watch out for it!
