Fire and Ice

Living & working aboard their yacht, doctors Michael and Sarah Stone, sail among the Pacific islands until another vessel radios for medical help and the Stones are sucked in.
Michael and Sarah Stone are doctors with dangerous political backgrounds. To survive they sailed away to the relative anonymity of the Pacific equator where they could raise their daughter Ronnie and bring help to the islanders.
Lulled by a decade of safety, they answer a distress call from a huge commercial ship that shouldn't have been where it was. Sarah and Ronnie sail the Veronica to the liquid natural gas carrier to offer their aid while Michael tends to a dying fisherman on a beach.
As Michael watches, his yacht, his wife and his daughter are hoisted up on the deck of the behemoth even as the screws start up and all are steaming away leaving him alone, with the merest of tools, a fisherman's canoe, some dried fish and a huge load of fear.
How Sarah and Ronnie survive, who it is they must tend and where the ship is going all unravel with nerve-tingling speed. How Michael pursues, hunts and catches up is epic.
I thoroughly enjoyed this rollicking suspenseful adventure and was often lured into following the drama at the expense of some worthy household chore. Very satisfying, good bouquet.
