  Crime Zero
   Michael Cordy

  1999 William Morrow & Co.NY USA
   ISBN: 038073043X

In 2008 violent crime has become a global epidemic; Iraq is about to invade Kuwait again & in America, now in the hands of an all-female led government, Project Conscience seems to promise the perfect solution. Scientists, politicians & law-enforcers decide to use gene therapy to treat violent criminals. Certain people in high places have taken a broader view & set in motion a deadly experiment.

David writes:

The premise of Crime Zero is not only threatening, it is also not all that far-fetched. What if violence in men, in particular violent criminals, could be cured by gene therapy? Sounds pretty harmless, right? Wrong!

Under the guise of doing something magnificent for the survival of our species, for eliminating war & crime from our heritage, a group of scientists, federal employees & politicians wage a rather more sinister battle.

In writing a novel of the future, all things are possible - even a woman president, no matter how she gets into the White House; even a woman at the helm of the FBI, no matter her hidden agenda.

In the future, ethics, morality & weapons of mass destruction can be wielded with alarming ease. Death-dealing viruses can be splattered around the globe & Man, as we've known him, can be wiped out wholesale. Shows that terrorism isn't limited to men & their agendas.

David

Rebecca writes:

Crime Zero is a scary read! A “what if we had the guts to do it” kind of read. Made us both think & had us talking up a storm. Crime Zero is all about violence, serial murderers, godforsaken scientists & people in high places doing incorrigible things. Reminded me that Ultimiate Solutions always, always carry with them dire consequences.

Michael Cordy kept the story going, built up the drama, made it interesting & even plausible. We both enjoyed Crime Zero for very different reasons!
