Da Sinecure Gig 1
Sponag E. Akowe
(Reviewer - Rebecca Brown)

2002 Da Trendz Publications
ISBN: 0971991200

Show Us Da Money. It's 2015 & a convicted drug-trafficking airline pilot is on the run.

Will he stay one step ahead of both the FBI & his irate girlfriend?

An African-American Espionage Series 4 da 21st Century. The 1st of the Kike Cellini-Dapo/Tamara Lewis-Bates Epiks of adult-themed, futuristic fiction where parental discretion is advised.” That having been said, & yes, all that really is on the title page, open to page 1 & set off on a fast, sexy, rappin' read ... all about a bawdy, gorgeous black&white heroine on the trail of a man who has done her wrong...I think!

Kike is a super-model & fashion designer (I don't have the accents to duplicate those in the text), who happens to be a filthy-rich daughter of a high-society, multi-millionaire vixen. Kike's seemingly perfect love life comes apart when the FBI raids their Manhattan penthouse in a bid to re-capture her fugitive beau.

With his past crimes & businesses out in the open, & her own high society family name on the line, Kike goes out of her way to help the FBI nab the two-timing, two-faced man.

Everyone, however, underestimates him & his vast underground empire.

Take a deep breath, put aside all your hard-won skill with “correct” English, & dive into an Ebonics-laden adventure. You just might have one helluvan amusing read! I did get into the rhythm every so often. While I am from another era, young, hiphop, rapster-readers are going to enjoy this wild fantasy of the hi-life & some very low-down deeds.

Sponag Akowe's writing reminds me of Taj Mahal's earlier music -- loping, complex & energetic. Like a comic written in words.

At 435 pages of 10 point font Show Us Da Money could have done with much editing & at least one re-write to eliminate the many techincal errors & extravagant grammar, all of which leads me to think English is not Sponag Akowe's mother tongue. That would have in no way harmed the flow of the lyrical language or the amusing story.

Soon to come: Da Sinecure Gig 2: Da Human-Freaks.
