Garage Sale & Flea Market Annual 7th Ed. 1999
   Sharon & Bob Huxford

1999 CollectorSchroeder Pub. Co. Paducah, KY USA
   ISBN: 1574321110

We love collecting & we're passionate about it! This large catalog lists the curious & the valuable you can find on any weekend in your neighborhood. From Action Figures & Airline stuff to Blue Ridge Dinnerware & Occupation Memorabilia to Mugs, Rock'n'Roll, Vending Machines & Wurlitzers.

A fascinating compilation of the artifacts of this century, of our grandparents' & parents' storage boxes. In clear black & white photos & a clear alphabetical legend, you can meander through this book's 500 odd pages with exclamations from the "you're kidding!" to the "wow, now that is beautiful!" all the way.

From an $75 Elvis or a $185 Colonial Woman in the Celebrity Dolls section to a Jack-o'-Lantern, circa 1950 for $75. From Character Jugs that can fetch upwards of $600 to a Zorro pencil holder & sharpener that'll cost get you $65 to a Chicago Bulls Basketball coming in at $40, the pricing is sometimes amusing & sometimes wild.

Remember those Transistor Radios that were the cat's meow when our knees were knobbly? In good condition they're worth rather more than what you paid!

I love to wander around flea markets: I cut my teeth young on one of the all-time greats - the Portobello Street Market in West London, England. Two other of the most exuberant ones I've attended regularly were on Maxwell Street in South Chicago & at the Ashby Avenue BART station in Berkeley. Each location offers its own rewards - city or rural, east coast crazes or western frontier memorabilia.

I had a Grand Mistress train me on how to make those crazy events happen - she did them "professionally" for ashrams, schools, churches & clubs. I still keep my Pacific Supply of Oakland nail pouch in which I stored tons of change & wads of paper money along with scissors & tags & other vital tools of the trade.

Garage/yard sales are a great way for families to get together & a grand way to lighten your load before you move - just be mindful of what you're selling & this book will give you sound pricing references!

Garage Sale & Flea Market Annual would make a super gift for those avid hunters in your life.
