How to Beat the Odds of Dying in An Accident.

With R. J. Shay's numerous, humorous illustrations & tons of timely tips, learn how to prevent accidental injury or death, as well as organize safety plans for each family member.

At the beginning of each helpful hint, John C. Myre tells a short cautionary tale. Yes, you've probably heard one exactly like it, however, what have you done since to change the inevitable outcome?

John C. Myre's Live Safely in a Dangerous World presupposes folks want to keep themselves safe, & to that end he has meticulously gathered together statistics, stories, & ideas on how to lower the incidents of preventable accidents.

Once I had a friend whose child seriously cut open the underside of her forearm while reaching to put away the dishes from the draining board. When I asked how she got such a deep gash, the mother said it was because she always drains the knives in the dish rack blade up. As I staunched her daughter's two inch gash before heading for the nearest ER, I asked why she would even think of doing such a thing. She murmured something about not wanting the tips of the blades to get germs. I don't consider this an “accident,” it was perilous stupidity. I'm far less diplomatic than John C. Myre!

As the saying goes: “accidents will happen,” however a few readings of Live Safely in a Dangerous World will go a long way to reducing the amount of “self-inflicted” accidents that occur when we're not thinking things through, abdicated our commonsense to something like Al K. Hol & stress, or simply have lost our concentration.

One of the things Live Safely in a Dangerous World consistently reminds us of is that many of the things we use are not toys & are not to be toyed with, they are serious machines or phenomena which will cause death, or at best life-long injury.

You will learn about:
Personal Safety & how to plan for it. Why is Golf so dangerous?
Drive Safely: in all kinds of weather, conditions & what days of the week are the safest for driving.
Home Safety: what are the two most common causes of death in the home? You'd be surprised!
Leisure & General Safety: from driving to campfires to food poisoning to world travel to your hearing, hobbies, firearms, hospital stays, insect bites etc.
Kids' Safety: from autos to trampolines -- if your kids can think of it, there are ways to do it safely!

With a superb Information Source & Index, Live Safely in a Dangerous World is a handy handbook to have around the house, on vacations & in your car.

Would that it could also teach us to prosper! Well done!

Live Safely in a Dangerous World was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Books of the Year in the 2003 Independent Publishers Book Awards (IPPY) competition, category: “Most Likely To Save The Planet.”
