There's No Such Thing As “Business Ethics”
John C. Maxwell
(Reviewer - Rev. Marie D. Jones)

2003 Warner Business Books
ISBN: 0446532290

Using The Golden Rule to succeed ethically.

Associate Reviewer Rev. Marie D. Jones writes:

Best-selling author John C. Maxwell is considered the nation's expert on leadership skills, so when he writes a book about ethics in business, everyone listens. & yet, what he is telling us in There's No Such Thing As “Business Ethics” is that there really is no code of ethics to live by in the business world -- except for the greatest code of all. The Golden Rule.

Maxwell believes that the only rule we need follow in dealing with others is Do Unto Others, & this small, but powerful book sets out the reasons why this rule rules above all others for dealing ethically & with integrity in the world of business. This single standard, the author argues, sets the tone for both personal & business success by bringing us amazing dividends in return.

Chapters include stories & anecdotes from the worlds of sports, government, business & history which emphasize how this timeless principle has proven again & again to be as good as gold.

Maxwell also covers why & how people often compromise their values & how to overcome disharmony & lack of integrity, as well as how the Golden Rule can improve morale & increase worker productivity by making everyone feel valued & appreciated.

Each chapter includes discussion questions that encourage deeper thought & reflection. & There's No Such Thing As “Business Ethics” will no doubt be a wonderful tool for corporations to give to their executives to help them understand their own need to follow the Golden Rule in order to best serve their customers, & best treat their employees.

Although I am not a business owner, & do not work for a corporation, I found so much of value in this small hardcover book that I plan to Do Unto Others myself, & pass There's No Such Thing As “Business Ethics” onto as many friends as are willing to read it.
