Ordinary Miracles
Danny Iny
(Reviewer - Rebecca Brown)
2006 DanDe Sign Books
ISBN: 1411672526
Harness the power of writing & get your point across!
& what does Danny Iny cover? Let me list a few of the segment titles:
• Who is this book for?
• Mechanics - why do they matter?
• Content, Organization, Language - a better model
• Thesis - making a statement
• Plagiarism
• Limited space in memory
• Rhythm, tone and flow
• How to choose and when to use Big Words
I'm very glad to see Danny Iny has also read the same books: Lynne Truss' Eats, Shoots and Leaves, & Stephen King's On Writing, from which he took his title. He also turned me on to Steven Pinker's The Language Instinct: How the Mind Creates Language.
Ordinary Miracles is the epitome of content, organization & language -- it's brief, with just enough examples & history to whet your appetite, & covers a lot of territory that will be of interest to students & writers just getting started. It's well worth the price, does what the author says it does.
Danny Iny was born in 1983 in Montreal, Canada & lived for 8 years in Israel, completing his mandatory military service. He is now back in Montreal, developing educational software for children & studying at Concordia University.
