Celebrates working dogs & the services they perform for people everyday.
Meet Lady, who lives with Kathy Miller in Pennsylvania. She works as a Therapy Dog, helping to cheer up people, young & old, who are confined to hospitals, nursing homes & special homes for children.
It takes a special kind of temperament to become a Therapy Dog, & Lady is perfect -- she's calm, quiet & eager to give comfort. She also has some tricks which everyone enjoys -- laughter is as good as any medicine, as are the hugs Lady gives to those who ask.
Awarding-winning Judith Friedman illustrates the spirit of Lady's life, adding an endearing quality to the scary & harsh realities of serious illness & long confinements.
Who is Lady? She was found in the spring of 2000, abandoned alongside the road. She was adopted & trained by Kathy Miller. In May 2002 Lady received her certification from Therapy Dogs International. she works 40 hours a weeks as Kathy's co-partner in nursing, volunteering at schools, churches & hospitals.
Lady's favorite toy right now is a pink teddy bear that plays music when she picks it up. She can hear the sound of Cellophane from a mile away. Her favorite treat is natural beef jerky.
