Rosebud & Red Flannel
Ethel Pochocki
(Reviewer - Rebecca Brown)
1989 Down East Books
ISBN: 0892724749
Clothes on a washing line become entwined as the seasons take their toll.
Red flannel is a pair of woolen long johns, & Rosebud is a delicate, lacy nightgown who, on wash day hang side by side on the clothesline.
While Red Flannel is in love with Rosebud, he's much too shy to speak to her. Rosebud, however, thinks such a coarse fellow is beneath her.
One day, when a sudden snowstorm threatens to freeze them on the line, Rosebud & Red Flannel take off together on an adventure. Will they survive howling winter winds, the bitter cold? Will they be eaten by hungry cows?
When you open Rosebud & Red Flannel you will venture into another time of storytelling, where whimsy & romance flourish & love means having a good laugh & a good cry.
Exquisitely illustrated by Mary Beth Owens who has captured Ethel Pochocki's wild & flowing tale, with its surprising & enchanting ending.
