Regular Lu

(Reviewer - Rebecca Brown)

ISBN: 1888842466
It's not easy being small, nor tall & maybe the hardest thing of all, is being yourself.
Regular Lu is a regular mouse who lives in a matchbox for a house, although he can fit in a pumpkin, a shoe, even a hat, 'cause he clever at that.
Regular Lu's not such a happy mouse 'cause no one notices he's about, so one day he declares to all the animals he knows, that he's the king of the world. Then he starts bossing everyone about. Ah, the thrill of power!
Well, there's another side to being king -- everyone comes to complain -- the Dalmatian dogs want the Cheetahs to have no spots, the Rhinoceros wants three horns, the Crocodile wants to live in trees, & the Bear wants honey without the Bees -- & on it goes throughout the animal kingdom.
As you can imagine, the little mouse is overwhelmed & yearns for when he was a nobody...& free!
Charmingly illustrated, delightfully rhymed, Regular Lu is for 5-7 year old readers, & I highly recommend it because its understory is all about learning who you are & be careful of what you wish for.
