Doors
Roxie Munro
(Reviewer - Rev. Marie D. Jones)

2004 SeaStar Publishing
ISBN: 158717247X

This brilliant lift-the-flap book ushers readers through delightful doors of all kinds.

Discover & rediscover real worlds as fantastic as the Space Station or as familiar as the inside of a refrigerator. Sail a boat, ride a train, peek behind a stage door -- & then investigate what lies behind the many other smaller doors that await inside each place. The clever text & bright pictures include a search-&-find game offering hours of play & learning.

Associate Reviewer Rev. Marie Jones writes:

A fun & interactive book that opens the door to a child's imagination.

What child can resist a book filled with flaps to open &reveal new & exciting pictures underneath? As an adult, I even found myself lifting the doors of this colorful & irresistible book, Doors, over & over again.

Roxie Munro, artist & author of many interactive children's books such as Mazescapes & Feathers, Flaps and Flops: Fabulous Early Flyers knows what kids like, & being able to lift up flaps & open doors is a whole lot more fun than just reading about what may lay beyond.

Using such settings as a fire station, a space shuttle cockpit, a train, a mechanic's garage & a stuffed refrigerator, among others, this book contains over 50 flaps, all in the guise of doors of some kind or another, that allow a child to further explore the pictures & special settings. Some doors even contain more doors within, leading even further into a world that lays just beyond what we can see on the surface.

The fun text that accompanies the pictures & flaps adds to the bouncy, adventurous feel of this book, made even moreso by the fact that each page contains an apple & a hat, only sometimes you really have to look hard to find them! This is one book that will keep any child busy for hours, searching & seeking & finding new surprises at every turn.

Doors is a blast, & my 3-year-old son carries it around with him everywhere, often stopping to encourage me to open a door myself. Who can resist? Before I know it, we are both off exploring where each of the doorways lead to, & laughing all the way.
