An Illustrated Songbook for Young People with 61 classic childhood songs coupled with some of the magnificent treasures from The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Songs for work, play, nursery, nonsense rhymes, ballads & lullabies are matched to paintings, photographs, bedspreads, sculptures & collages spanning 3000 years from around the world.
This is a lovely book of full-color spreads & clear, large music easy to read & accompany anyone singing these lively, so familiar songs. From "All the Pretty Little Horses" to "Yankee Doodle" just about every song you've ever sung & loved is here.
Nothing was likier to warm the cockles of my heart than when I would sit at a piano with my children on either side, watching my fingers or reading the words & engrossed in the illustrations in the music books I found. Here in Go In and Out The Window is the perfect family music book for the beauty of song & pictures.
"Hickory, Dickory, Dock" shows a tall mahogany & brass Willard clock & a Jerboa mouse from the Egyptian Dynasty 12 made around 1991 B.C.E. "I've Been Working on the Railroad" is illustrated with black & white photos from the 1930s & "Home, Sweet Home" shows a Horace Pippin Victorian Interior II & a cross-stitch sampler.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art & Dan Fox with commentary by Claude Marks have amassed a wonderful treasure that will enhance your life whether at home, at camp, in school or church.
There are also notations for guitar players.
