Life is quiet & comfortable for Arthur & Stella in their home on Davenport Street. Burnt toast for breakfast & bullies at the corner of the road are the two most exciting things to happen until a magic fly grants Arthur three wishes.
Now I love burnt toast & its smell brings back all sorts of memories! Tim Egan has created a funny & telling little story of a couple of dogs in their happy &, well, almost dull lives. The only fly in the ointment is the gang of crocodiles who jeer & taunt them as they take their daily stroll around the neighborhood.
Then one morning as Arthur is preparing breakfast, a fly really does buzz through the window around his face & just as Arthur is about to flatten it with his swatter, it speaks & Arthur is stunned!
What comes next is a hilarious comedy of wishful errors with the outcome being that Arthur & Stella are even more grateful for their quiet comfortable life!
With delightful pictures & a tongue-in-cheek humor, Tim Egan, once again, gives us a charming, instructional parable on the old saying: be careful what you wish for!
Burnt Toast on Davenport Street is destined to be a family keepsake read!
