Guest Reviewer Gene M. Smith writes:
This is Nita Mondonedo Smith's first book on the Fil-Am(Filipino-America) experience about coming of age in under the care of the Daughters of Charity orphanage in Washington, D.C. in the 1950s & 1960s.
Preceding her Say Uncle!, this books describes the day-to-day evolutions of the children at the orphanage, the wonderful care that they received by the Sisters, & profiles the kind work of one Father Adler.
Pages of rare photos are also included of the St. Vincent's Orphanage (long gone) & some of the precious personalities from that time.
Most of the orphan-type stories out there are full of dirt & only amount to an exposé of the evil on this planet. Forever In Our Hearts is not one of them!
Forever In Our Hearts is a trip to a time that will never be again, skillfully written by one who's been there. I recommend it to all readers -- especially teens -- it delights in an uplifting, positive & insightful way.
