Leon Cooper's extraordinary experiences as a US Naval officer during World War II.
Guest Reviewer Judine Slaughter writes:
90 Day Wonder: Darkness Remembered captures the ugly truth about how words can harm & mutilate.
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor the military needed leaders, & Leon Cooper describes his rapid 90 day training as an officer in the US Navy directly after he graduated from college. His first assignment is aboard the USS Harry Lee.
The first time Leon Cooper stands at attention before his commanding officer, Captain Joseph Boda, he is tested & for the next four years until he is honorably discharged, Leon survives Boda's verbal abuse.
Leon Cooper & Don Tait keep the reader anxiously awaiting as the story unfolds. The action often flips from the present to the past, & although the timeline gets fuzzy in the middle, there is a smooth flow of events. It is the physical combat & the mental battles that keep the reader interested.
The principle message of 90 Day Wonder: Darkness Remembered is the madness of a sociopath with absolute powers, including reckless commands that lead to the deaths of Cooper's shipmates.
I recommend 90 Day Wonder: Darkness Remembered to anyone who likes military stories & the battle of good vs evil within its ranks.
