There's no sneaking into heaven
by Denis Goyet

There's no sneaking into heaven [Editor: as a legal immigrant who landed in America in 1965, I religiously registered every January at the local post office of whatever town I was in. Then in the 1980s I was told I didn't have to do it anymore, which I thought was strange -- I mean, there I was an alien, & now I could float around America under the radar? After all the months of paperwork plus 4 days of intensive, invasive interviews at the Grosvenor Square embassy in London -- now I was cut loose? When the required 5 year sojourn had passed, I attempted, several times, to find classes so I could study for my citizenship. Most everyone I met scoffed at the idea of wanting to become American, & none would help, which I thought really strange. While they took their citizenship for granted & were busily whining about whatever president & political party was “in power”, they said they rarely bothered to vote, yet none had ever lived anywhere else in the world.
Decades later, I met an American who put his hand over his heart when the national anthem was played, knew the Pledge of Allegiance & totally understood why I wanted to become a citizen. He gladly “spotted” me through the process. In fact, I married him
I'd emigrated from a country that spoke English, & had, after all those years, learnt to think & speak American (although to this day, especially under stress or fatigue, the language of my childhood will pop out, much to my American-born friends' amusement). At my naturalization ceremony in Seattle, I was astonished to find myself 1 of only 3 English-speaking inductees. I'd been told being able to speak English was a prerequisite to citizenship.
So, the problem of illegal immigration has been of great interest to me & I offer below Denis Goyet's tirade which touches on a number of my own sore points.]

An American Veteran Native son told to eat cake!

When my grandparents came to this country they presented themselves to the process. They fully intended on becoming American citizens. My father was first generation & I'm second generation. When folks came to this country through Ellis Island & Boston, & in Canada usually through Montreal, they went through the system.

Now I recognize that for 200 years, populations have migrated & flowed back & forth across the southern border, & it was customary. However, the phenomenon we're seeing today is an annual INVASION of some 20 million-plus -- what the countries to the south of us are really doing is literally dumping their excess populations on us.

I have served my country 16 years in the military with another 10 in public service. I've seen my wages get raped & benefits disappear because I can always be replaced by cheaper labor, while attempting to maintain my family on a just-above-poverty level income.

On the other hand, if I'd come floating in on a log babbling in my mother tongue, I'd have been given a grand compassionate welcome, but as I'm a citizen working hard at my own small business, I get told I don't qualify for a loan because... I'm of the ethnicity that ‘shouldn't’ need help.

Anyone who comes here legally, & presents themselves to the system & learns the language, is welcome. However, those who sneak in are breaking the law of the land & for that should be regarded as criminals & treated as such. In fact, if you check the police blotters wherever we have congregations of illegal immigrants, we have crime waves -- trespassing, littering, loitering, health violations, vagrancy, drugs & fights.

I'm neither bigoted nor racist, however, this is my stand:
NO AMNESTY & IF THEY'RE HERE ILLEGALLY THEN SEND THEM BACK
IF THEY RETURN AGAIN, incarcerate them in the prison system to work the chain gangs.
THEN THEY GET DEPORTED WITH A PRISON RECORD, after serving their time.
ALL WHO AID & EMPLOY THEM get their businesses &/or homes CONFISCATED under THE RICO ACT -- they're providing aid to felons. That includes all public officials, SENATORS & CONGRESSMEN who're taking advantage of cheap, undocumented labor.

That's a tough unchristian stand, no doubt. There's no sneaking into heaven & seeing what happens. There's no room here for felons. There's ALWAYS room for honest citizens.

We don't need new laws -- we need to enforce those already on the books.

Now for the really bad news: If a company closes a plant & exports their work (out-sourcing) to a foreign country, then they get to move their entire business there, lock, stock & CEOs. If they move “off shore” to avoid taxes, they get to move themselves & their entire company off shore, & then we tax the **** out of 'em as foreign corporations.

Many years ago I wrote a column called “The Rape of America”. I'm seeing this go on every day.

I have all I can do to keep my family afloat, meanwhile the bleeding hearts want to provide aid to felons, free health care, free schooling, SUBSIDIZED GOVERNMENT HOUSING? The very ones who eventually will cause either a revolution or a major depression, as most have no intention of becoming citizens. Meanwhile I get told “tough luck, you were born here. Native son go eat cake!”

I know many decent Hispanic families who came here through the system & became fine upstanding American citizens. It was hard but all will tell you they're proud they did it right, & they too, are opposed to the illegals because they threaten what they've worked so hard for.

Wake up America. You'll find yourselves serving under & living with the result of your apathy & greed! Meanwhile those of us who bled for this country & provided the period of prosperity you've been enjoying are trying to find the cake you told us to go eat!

Thanks for giving away my blood & my sweat & sacrifice to those who never once earned their right to be here!

That's what I think!
